ecoPRO Training & Exam Goes Virtual: Two Trainings Were Hosted This Fall

After taking a pause in 2020, the ecoPRO Training & Exam was offered virtually this Fall – the first in October, and the second training in November. In total, twenty-nine landscape professionals were trained. Twenty-two professionals sat for the virtual ecoPRO Exam and ten earned their ecoPRO Certification.

The ecoPRO Steering & Technical Committees worked throughout 2020 & 2021 to transition the hands-on training format from in person to virtual.  Trainings were designed to be strategically limited in size to support engagement among participants and trainers, and to ensure the interactive elements of the in-person training were not missed in the virtual experience.

Looking forward, the virtual training and exam will provide greater access for the ecoPRO Certification to expand statewide. This was demonstrated in the trainings held this fall, with landscape professionals from eight different counties spread across Western and Central Washington participating.  The in-person training will continue to be offered. In addition, the Steering & Technical Committees are looking at options to develop a self-study format that would allow landscape professionals the opportunity to study at their own pace.

Thank you to our training partners: WSU Puyallup – IPM Program, with funding provided by USDA-NIFA and City of Bellingham/Whatcom Water Alliance for your support in training and promoting ecoPRO professionals.
